I fell in love with Stasia's illustration style looking through her Etsy shop. As someone with an affinity for Buddhist ways of thinking and meditation practices, the Sasuraibito deck really appealed to me. The deck is vibrant, colourful and somehow feels serene to me. As if it is encouraging equanimity while encountering the whole spectrum of life.

The Deck

A 78 card deck drawing inspiration from the Raider-Waite deck, contemporary living in the Western world, as well as Japanese and Buddhist concepts and ideals.

The Japanese word: "sasuraibito" most closely translates to "wanderer" and is meant to describe a person ever-seeking, searching for a place of healing and refuge. This deck is designed to aid the curious wanderer, and accompany you on your adventures to come.

Common themes in the deck are the key points in the cycle of life, embracing endings and keeping the fool's open mind.

The creator

Stasia says: " This deck is designed to aid the curious wanderer, and accompany you on your adventures to come. This project was a work of profound introspection and love, of which I am very proud, and I'm so excited to share it with you. I painted the original designs between 2015-2017, in sumi ink, watercolor and Windsor & Newton Inks. The original major arcana deck lives in the personal collection of a patron in New York."

You can find Stasia on her website, Instagram and Patreon
